Moises Ballesteros Surges Again On Latest Prospect Re-Rank
3 months agoIn MLB.com's Top 100 Prospects July update, Chicago Cubs catching prospect Moises Ballesteros moved up 28 spots from 89 to 61, but in their latest reshuffle, the 20-year-old jumped up another 17 spots after a solid showing in his first taste of Triple-A. Now ranked at 44th overall, Ballesteros owns a .283/.346/.490 slashline over 38 games with the Iowa Cubs, acquitting himself well against pitchers that are mostly older than he is. The Cubs are finally getting some offensive production from the catcher position lately, which is dampening the chances of a debut in 2024, but if he can continue to hit through the end of this season and into next, it would not be a surprise to see Ballesteros in Chicago next season despite MLB.com's ETA of 2026.
