Moises Ballesteros Picking Up Where He Left Off Last Season
Moises Ballesteros went 3-for-5 with a double, a triple, an RBI, a run scored, and a stolen base on Tuesday for Triple-A Iowa. It was the diminutive backstop's third multi-hit performance in seven games so far this season, now slashing .300/.344/.433 on the season, seemingly picking up right where he left off last season. He hasn't hit a home run yet after belting 19 last season, but with two steals in 2025, he's already surpassed last season's total. Unlike last season, however, the left-handed hitter doesn't have an apparent path to at-bats with both major league catchers hitting well, as is the Cubs' DH and first baseman, which would have been his alternatives. Nevertheless, the Venezuelan has hit at every stop in the minors and usually against pitchers much older than him. Still only 21, expect the Cubs fourth-ranked prospect to debut sometime in 2025 and could be viable for fantasy if he somehow earns regular at-bats.

Moises Ballesteros Continues Incredible Start At Triple-A
Moises Ballesteros has continued to swing a hot bat at Triple-A. The young backstop is currently riding an impressive nine-game hitting streak. During this stretch, Ballesteros has posted a stellar .515/.575/.788 slash line with three doubles and two home runs. He has also added five RBI and seven runs. The 21-year-old received a 68-game taste of Triple-A last summer and performed quite well, holding a .281/.340/.454 line with 15 doubles and 10 home runs. It is a great sign to see Ballesteros carry this success into the 2025 campaign. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his production as he could push for an earlier-than-expected MLB debut this summer. For now, he is worth stashing in deeper NL-only formats.

Moises Ballesteros Hits Two Home Runs, Extends Hitting Streak To Six Games
Moises Ballesteros went 4-for-5 with a double and two home runs during their contest against Triple-A St. Paul on Wednesday. These were Ballesteros' first two long balls of the Triple-A regular season. During this impressive six-game hitting streak, the young backstop has posted a stellar .522/.577/.870 slash line. Through the first 14 games of the Iowa Cubs' regular season, the 21-year-old has swung a hot bat, holding a .379/.419/.586 slash line. Last summer, Ballesteros received his first taste of Triple-A and enjoyed similar production as he posted a .281/.340/.454 line with 15 doubles and 10 home runs across 68 games. Fantasy managers should expect the No. 66-ranked prospect in baseball to debut later this summer.

Cubs Invite Matt Shaw, Moises Ballesteros, James Triantos To Spring Training
Matt Shaw and James Triantos, and catcher/first baseman Moises Ballesteros to major-league spring training this year as non-roster invites. Per MLB Pipeline, Shaw is ranked as the No. 19 overall prospect in baseball, with Triantos checking in at No. 73, and Ballesteros at No. 69. If the Cubs don't sign free-agent third baseman Alex Bregman, Shaw is expected to be the "leading contender" for starting duties at third base on Opening Day despite having yet to play in the majors. The 23-year-old Shaw hit .284/.379/.488 with 21 homers and 31 steals in the minors in 2024 and could be in play in mixed fantasy leagues in 2025 given his power/speed potential. Ballesteros, 21, has great contact skills from the left side but does have a tendency to chase outside the zone. Triantos, 22, has limited power but stole 47 bags on the farm in 2024.

Moises Ballesteros Hits A Double, Drives In One In Solar Sox Finale
Moises Ballesteros put his final stamp on his 2024 Arizona Fall Campaign on Thursday, notching a double and an RBI in a 1-for-4 day at the plate. With the Mesa Solar Sox not playing for the AFL championship, the 21-year-old finishes the fall campaign with a .316/.376/.557 slashline, including five home runs, 16 RBI, and a 10:15 BB:K in 19 games. It's a strong ending after a superb 2024 regular season. Should he continue to swing a hot bat come next spring, it shouldn't be long before he's with the big league club that could use some offense at the position. While his defense is not quite as strong, he could also spend time at DH while he works on the glove, which should put him squarely on both dynasty and redraft radar.
