MLB, Players Association Reach Tentative Agreement
3 years agoMajor League Baseball and the Players Association have reached a tentative agreement on a new labor deal on Thursday, according to sources. It needs to be officially ratified by both parties, but that's expected to be a formality. Players can report to spring training camps as early as Friday, while Opening Day is expected to be on April 7. Transactions will unfreeze upon ratification, meaning free agents can now sign with teams and trades can occur. Expect an blistering pace of signings and transactions to take place in the next couple of days and weeks with the sport catching up after a lockout that began in early December. Of course, the best news is that baseball should officially be back shortly.
