4 years agoNew York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman and Chicago Cubs general manager Jed Hoyer both said that because of the HIPAA Act, teams are not allowed to divulge the names of any player who tests positive for COVID-19 during the season. "The information I've been given is [the media] will be left to try to figure that out," Cashman said during a conference call Tuesday afternoon. Teams will not specifically announce a COVID-19 injured list placement for any player who is removed from the team after testing positive. Only players can reveal their positive status. Players testing positive will be instructed to immediately self-isolate and won't be allowed to travel. Being placed on a "COVID-19 Related Injury List" won't require a confirmed positive test for the virus. It will likely become pretty obvious when a player gets put on this list, but it'll be an inconvenience for fantasy owners, especially in season-long leagues with weekly lineup changes.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
