MJ Daffue Rides Hot Putter To Scotland
1 year agoMJ Daffue has now placed T38 or better in three-straight PGA Tour events leading up to this week's Genesis Scottish Open. The key? An unconscious putting game. The 34-year-old has gained a combined 12.6 strokes putting over the last three outings, and he's been able to drive the ball well too, gaining 9.6 strokes off-the-tee in the same span. The reason those finishes don't include a top-20 result is a lack of an iron game, as Daffue lost 4.4 strokes on approach last week after losing 3.4 the week prior. If the putter can stay hot, the South African can provide tremendous value on his $6,500 DraftKings price tag. However, the idea that the putting and/or driving games regress creates massive risk considering his awful approach form. It's not time to call Daffue a "safe" DFS option yet, but he certainly makes sense as a value play to free up salary for more expensive golfers. It's possible we see the hot putter once more, and Daffue can continue to play well through Sunday afternoon.
