Mitch White Pitches Well As Opener
3 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Mitch White made his first career start as an opener in Saturday's contest versus the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Dodgers needed all they could get from the right-hander with the bullpen being heavily worked on Friday. White came through and tossed 3 2/3 innings. White allowed two hits, two runs, one walk and struck out five on the night. With the news earlier in the day that starting pitcher Tony Gonsolin (shoulder) has been placed on the 10-day injured list, there could be a chance that White can remain either in the rotation or as an opener moving forward. White has now appeared in 15 games and has a respectable 3.75 ERA with 25 strikeouts in 24 innings. White can remain on the waiver wire for now.
