years agoSeattle Mariners outfielder Mitch Haniger added two more hits Monday, going 2-for-4 with a walk and a run scored. Haniger now has a modest four-game hit streak going as he looks to build on a very successful July during which he slashed .269/.361/.516 with seven home runs. The acquisition of Abraham Toro has stretched out the Seattle lineup just a bit more, and Haniger remains in excellent position to accrue counting stats batting second on a regular basis. He should be a staple of fantasy lineups.--Doug Goldring

months agoSeattle Mariners outfielder Mitch Haniger collected a pair of hits in Friday's 10-2 win over the Phillies, going 2-for-4 with his 10th home run of the season. The 33-year-old also scored twice in the contest. After coming into the season healthy and returning to his old team, there was hope that the veteran could rekindle some of the magic that allowed him to hit 39 home runs and drive in 100 as he did back in 2021, but that has not come to fruition. This was Haniger's first multi-hit game since June 14, and the former All-Star hit just .159 in July, rationed just 44 at-bats during the month. Hopefully this performance will spark a hot streak, just don't count on it.--Jarod Rupp - RotoBaller

months agoOutfielder Mitch Haniger will head to the bench on Saturday night for the Seattle Mariners. Rookie Dominic Canzone will replace him, batting seventh and playing right field. The veteran Haniger is hitting .224 and has six home runs and 30 RBI thus far on the season. Haniger has not hit much in June with a .250 clip, no home runs, and only six RBI thus far in 40 plate appearances. Expect Haniger back in the lineup for the series finale on Sunday against the division-rival Texas Rangers.--Mike Carter - RotoBaller

months agoSeattle Mariners outfielder Mitch Haniger smacked a grand slam in Friday's 6-1 win over the Diamondbacks. It was his lone hit on the day, but it was a big one that broke the game open. It came after starter Zac Gallen left the game and with Mariners up just 2-1. It was the 33-year-old's fourth home run of the year and he's now up to 18 RBI, although the batting average sits at just .244. There was hope the veteran would return to some semblance of his 2021 form with a return to Seattle but it hasn't come to fruition to this point. The good thing is it's a long season and so far he's still healthy. Regardless, until he shows signs of a breakout he's probably only worth a roster spot in deeper leagues.--Jarod Rupp - RotoBaller

months agoSeattle Mariners outfielder Mitch Haniger went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer, two runs and a walk in Thursday's Opening Day loss versus the Boston Red Sox. Haniger returned to the Mariners this offseason as part of the Robbie Ray trade. After a nice spring, the veteran starts the regular season out on a high. Haniger is entering his eighth season and while he has been productive, that is only when he has been able to be on the field. Outside of two seasons with Seattle that he played 157 contests, his next highest total is 96 games and that is all the way back in 2017. Managers should roster Haniger in deeper formats as he does provide good power stats, but he makes for a perfect sell-high candidate if he continues to hit well a few weeks into the season.--Daniel Burdeen - RotoBaller
