3 years agoMinnesota Twins catcher Mitch Garver (back) was placed on the 10-day injured list Friday with a lower back strain. Garver has missed five of the last seven games, sitting out Thursday due to back tightness, though it appears to be something that will require an extended absence. The backstop has been excellent when in the lineup, posting a .880 OPS with 13 homers in 182 at-bats, but has had some problems with injuries. Garver's absence will mean more playing time for Ryan Jeffers and Willians Astudillo. Jeffers suffered a heel injury during Thursday's contest- though he is toughing it out and is in Friday's lineup.--Tim Capurso
