Mitch Garver Belts First Home Run Of Spring
4 years agoMinnesota Twins catcher Mitch Garver went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in a 14-6 loss to the Red Sox on Wednesday. Garver drilled an upstairs fastball offering from Nick Pivetta to right field for a solo shot in the first inning. The dinger left his bat at an exit velocity of 102.4 MPH and traveled 373 feet. While it's only his second game of the spring, it's still encouraging to see the veteran backstop go opposite field, something he did at the lowest rate of his career last season. Garver is now 2-for-4 in two Grapefruit League games with two hits, two runs scored, and a homer. He'll be splitting time behind the plate with Ryan Jeffers this season, but Garver could be a steal at his 213 ADP if he cuts down on the strikeouts and rediscovers his power stroke.
