5 years agoThe Calgary Flames overpowered the San Jose Sharks in a 6-2 win on Monday night. The Sharks found themselves in penalty troubles throughout the game and were called for six penalties totaling 24 minutes. Stefan Noesen had 14 minutes in penalties alone. Milan Lucic, known more for his punishing hits, scored a power-play goal and added two assists. He has five points over his past two games. Mikael Backlund scored a power-play goal and added a helper. He has five points over the past three games as he looks to recover from a disappointing offensive season. Journeyman forward Zac Rinaldo had a goal and an assist, which were his first points in nine games. Matthew Tkachuk scored the other power-play goal. David Rittich stopped 34 of 36 shots and has allowed just two goals in each of his past two games. He’s also one start away from matching his career-high in games started.--Marc Hulet - RotoBaller

1 year agoBoston Bruins left wing Milan Lucic (ankle) will be out of commission for a couple of weeks, according to head coach Jim Montgomery. The veteran forward will miss a third consecutive game on Thursday versus Anaheim, and it looks like he will then be unavailable for at least six more games. Lucic has totaled two assists in four games with one shot on goal and eight hits. The team will definitely miss his physical presence, although Boston has kept winning without Lucic and will head out for a seventh straight victory on Thursday. The team's frontline has also lost Jakub Lauko (face), who is expected to miss at least one week.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

3 years agoCalgary Flames left-winger Milan Lucic opened the scoring in Calgary on Monday night versus the Pittsburgh Penguins. Oliver Kylington and Chris Tanev set up the Lucic tally midway into the second period. That gave Lucic six goals in 22 games. With the winger playing just 12 minutes a night, the forward's scoring chances are limited. He does have two goals in his last three games though. Lucic played 10:53 on Monday night with just the one shot on goal. The forward has a bit of value in leagues that count hits still at least.--Chris Wassel - RotoBaller
