Mikko Rantanen Out Multiple Weeks With Injury
5 years agoColorado Avalanche forward Mikko Rantanen will be sidelined for weeks after sustaining an upper-body injury in his team's 4-3 overtime loss to the visiting Tampa Bay Lightning on Monday. The 23-year-old was forced to depart the game during the second period after being tripped by Bolts defenseman Erik Cernak and violently colliding with the end boards. Despite having to miss 16 games due to an ankle injury suffered back in October, Rantanen has posted 41 points (19 goals, 22 assists), 14 power-play points and 107 shots through 42 contests. Avalanche forward Valeri Nichushkin (5% owned in Yahoo! leagues) could be elevated to a top-line role in Rantanen's absence.
