Colorado Avalanche forward Mikko Rantanen will be sidelined for weeks after sustaining an upper-body injury in his team's 4-3 overtime loss to the visiting Tampa Bay Lightning on Monday. The 23-year-old was forced to depart the game during the second period after being tripped by Bolts defenseman Erik Cernak and violently colliding with the end boards. Despite having to miss 16 games due to an ankle injury suffered back in October, Rantanen has posted 41 points (19 goals, 22 assists), 14 power-play points and 107 shots through 42 contests. Avalanche forward Valeri Nichushkin (5% owned in Yahoo! leagues) could be elevated to a top-line role in Rantanen's absence.--Chase Davis - RotoBaller

Dallas Stars winger Mikko Rantanen tallied four points -- all in the second period -- during Thursday's 7-4 loss to the Colorado Avalanche. The former Avalanche player registered one goal and three assists, tying the NHL record for the most points in a playoff period. Incredibly, Roope Hintz also had four points (two goals, two assists) as Dallas earned a 4-3 lead, marking the NHL's first instance of teammates each recording four points in a playoff period. Rantanen contributed just one assist in the first four games of the series, but he has suddenly kicked into gear with two goals and five assists over the last two contests. He should be highly motivated to maintain his form in Game 7 against the team that traded him in January.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

Dallas Stars winger Mikko Rantanen accumulated three points in Monday's big 6-2 victory against the Colorado Avalanche. His former teammates had held Rantanen to just one point through four games, but he returned to form on Monday night with a goal and two assists. Rantanen's first goal of the postseason, scored early in the second period, turned out to be the game-winning goal. It has been a slow start to the playoffs for Rantanen, but he is one of the most productive players in Stanley Cup Playoffs history, and it was only a matter of time before the Finnish star regained his rhythm on the offensive end.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

Dallas Stars winger Mikko Rantanen finished Saturday's 5-3 loss against the Utah Hockey Club with two assists. The Finnish star picked up an early power-play assist on a Wyatt Johnston goal and helped to set up Jason Robertson late in the second period. It was Rantanen's 18th appearance for Dallas. Following a slow start in Texas, he has rediscovered some of his best form and is averaging close to a point per game with the team, boasting five goals and 12 assists. Rantanen is among the most productive playoff performers of all time, averaging 1.25 points across 81 games, giving Stars fans plenty to look forward to as the regular season wraps up.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

Dallas Stars right winger Mikko Rantanen tallied three points during their 5-1 victory over the Seattle Kraken on Saturday evening. In the opening frame, Rantanen would tally the secondary assist on Roope Hintz's power-play goal. In the third, Rantanen would tally the primary helper on Wyatt Johnson's 29th goal of the campaign and find the back of the net himself, with an empty-net goal. This victory clinched their spot in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. This impressive outing for Rantanen also extended his current point streak to four games. During this stretch, he has scored two goals and added five helpers. Through 73 games this season, split between time with three clubs, Rantanen has scored 31 goals and added 50 helpers. He will look to stay hot on Monday in a rematch against Seattle.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller
