Mikko Koskinen Makes Season Debut Tuesday Night
5 years agoEdmonton Oilers goaltender Mikko Koskinen is set to make his first appearances of the season on Tuesday against his former team the Islanders. The 31-year-old Finn played four games for the Isles in 2010-11 before returning to Europe, where he stayed until the start of last season. He had a mixed year during his comeback campaign, tallying 11 wins from his first 16 games before cooling off and finishing the season with a 25-21-6 record. He recorded a .903 save percentage and a 2.93 goals-against average. Koskinen will battle Mike Smith for starts this season, and he finds himself trailing straightaway after Smith recorded wins in both of Edmonton's first two games.
