Mikko Koivu Moves To Top Of Franchise List In PPGs
6 years agoMinnesota Wild center Mikko Koivu notched a power-play goal with an assist and four shots on goal in Monday's 3-2 home loss against the Pittsburgh Penguins. He also won 13 of his 20 faceoff attempts (65.0 percent) to pace his club. The goal on the man advantage was his 59th with the organization, tying Marian Gaborik atop the franchise's all-time power-play goals list. The goal was Koivu's first since Nov. 15, when he also struck on the man advantage against the Vancouver Canucks. The Finnish veteran pivot had been scoreless in his first eight games in December. Perhaps this will serve as a springboard into the new year.
