Mike Zunino Launches Pinch-Hit Home Run
3 years agoTampa Bay Rays catcher Mike Zunino went 1-for-1 with a solo home run during Wednesday's 20-8 loss to the Boston Red Sox. He entered the game as a pinch hitter in the ninth inning and blasted a solo shot off Phillips Valdez to cut the Rays deficit 20-8. It was his 22nd home run of the season. Zunino is heating up and is currently on a five-game hitting streak. The 30-year-old is slashing .203/.297/.528 with 22 home runs, 41 RBI, and 43 runs scored across 263 plate appearances in 2021. Zunino doesn't hit for average but produces enough in other categories, making him a solid option in two-catcher formats.
