Mike Zunino Homers On Tuesday
4 years agoTampa Bay Rays catcher Mike Zunino went 1-for-4 with a home run, a walk, two RBI and two runs scored in a 14-7 win over the Royals on Tuesday. It was Zunino's third homer of the year, as he now has a hit in three straight games for the first time since June 18-22, 2019. And that just about says it all for Zunino, who has not hit over .200 in a season since 2018. Now that being said, Zunino has looked slightly improved at the plate this year, with his .184/.279/.474 triple-slash line and 32.6 percent strikeout rate and 9.3 percent walk rate all being his best marks since 2017 with the Mariners. It's possible that he could be on the verge of a bounce-back season, but for now he should really only be looked at in AL-only or deep-mixed formats, and only for managers who are looking for power and willing to take the hit to their average.
