4 years agoEdmonton Oilers goaltender Mike Smith will get the call to protect the crease as his team takes on the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday. The 38-year-old made his season debut on Monday - stopping 27 of 28 shots against in a 3-1 victory over the Ottawa Senators. Despite having spent most of the young season on long-term injury reserve, Smith looked comfortable in his first start and could push for an even-split in net with fellow netminder Mikko Koskinen out in Edmonton. Considering Montreal played a tough contest versus Toronto on Wednesday, Smith could take advantage of an otherwise strong offensive Canadiens team. However, it might be best for fantasy owners to simply monitor Smith's play at this time and look for a safer goaltending option on Thursday.--Chase Davis - RotoBaller
