Calgary Flames goalie Mike Smith was back between the pipes on Sunday following a month-long absence and he didn't have a good comeback, allowing four goals in a 5-2 loss to the Islanders. Smith had just one save before it was 2-0 already to the Islanders, which pretty much summed up his night, though he couldn't really do anything about the early goals. Still, the Flames suffered a big loss, even though they outshot the opponent 52-27, and that's never a good look on the goalie. Smith finished the game with 22 saves and an .846 save percentage. He'll be expected to do much better when the Oilers are in town on Tuesday.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

Edmonton Oilers goalie Mike Smith will be the probable starter in Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals. Smith was lit up in Game 1, giving up six goals on 25 shots before being yanked midway through the contest in favor of 33-year-old Mikko Koskinen. The Kingston, Ontario, native has produced an 8-2-1 record with a 3.12 goals-against-average and a .917 save percentage. He's particularly struggled in Game 1's and has been able to bounce back as the last two series progressed. Colorado also has their goalie questions as starting goalie Darcy Kuemper went down with an upper-body injury, and backup Pavel Francouz will be between the pipes.--Andrew Lennox - RotoBaller

Edmonton Oilers goaltender Mike Smith has had a few rough outings during the 2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs, but he's taking a four-game winning streak into the Western Conference Finals. The 40-year-old boasts an 8-3 record overall for the postseason with a 2.70 goals-against average, a .927 save percentage and two shutouts. Edmonton lost the regular-season series against Colorado 2-1, but Smith went a solid 1-0-1 in the matchup. It's a clash against a team that has scored 4.30 goals per game during the playoffs and the Oilers will need Smith to stand tall throughout the series.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

Edmonton Oilers goaltender Mike Smith saved 32 of 33 shots as the team jumped to a 2-1 series lead against Calgary with a 4-1 win on Sunday. The veteran netminder appeared to have gotten injured in the middle of the third period when Smith exited the game after Milan Lucic crashed into him, but he was back a few minutes later to finish the game. Mikko Koskinen didn't have any shots to save in 4:15 of action. Smith started the series with a horrible performance as he allowed three goals on 10 shots in six minutes in Game 1, but he's bounced back in style, recording a 0.945 save percentage across the last two games. He's now 6-3 for the playoffs with a 2.55 goals-against average, a .933 save percentage and two shutouts.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
