Mike Montgomery Allows Three Runs Over Five Innings Friday
6 years agoChicago Cubs starting pitcher Mike Montgomery dropped to 3-3 on the season after allowing three runs in five innings against the Reds on Friday. Montgomery was about as mediocre as a starter could be. He only threw 47 of his 85 pitches for strikes while striking out two and allowing two free passes. Montgomery also gave up six hits, all of which were singles. It was not that bad of an outing at all, but he got the short end of the stick as Tyler Mahle threw a great game against the Cubs. Montgomery now has a 2.76 ERA as a starter this season, but the peripheral numbers would say that he's been a tad lucky. Montgomery will face the Giants on Wednesday as he aims to get back in the win column.
