Mike Gesicki Has Potential To Produce In Week 18
2 years agoMiami Dolphins tight end Mike Gesicki is gearing up for Week 18 versus the New York Jets. After a strong start, Miami stumbled and now needs a win (plus help from other AFC teams) to secure a playoff berth. However, a glaring obstacle stands in their way: Tua Tagovailoa (concussion) and Teddy Bridgewater (finger) are both sidelined this week. As a result, rookie Skylar Thompson will draw the start at quarterback. This could hurt the Dolphins' playoff odds, but it has the opportunity to be good news for fantasy managers invested in Gesicki's performance. Assuming the Dolphins take a more conservative offensive approach, there should be more targets available for Gesicki, including in key situations like third down and the red zone. The 27-year-old's fantasy value has been incredibly dependent on touchdowns through the first 17 weeks, and while that could remain the case this coming Sunday, it seems like Gesicki's fantasy stock will rise at least slightly with Thompson at quarterback against a Jets defense allowing 59.6 yards per game to tight ends.
