Mike Fiers Works In Simulated Game
6 years agoOakland Athletics starting pitcher Mike Fiers was in line to start the Cactus League spring game Sunday, but he threw 60 pitches in a simulated game at the minor-league complex instead. There isn't anything to worry about, however, as managed Bob Melvin didn't want him to face the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, a division rival, for a second consecutive spring start. "At times for veteran guys that have faced a majority of these hitters, they can get a little something out of it, too," Melvin said. "They might be able to set up a certain way and learn something. You just don't want to do it too many times." Fiers has Top 50 starting pitcher potential in AL-only fantasy leagues. Target him in Round 12 through 15 in mixed play.
