Mike Boone Leads Houston With 77 Scrimmage Yards In Preseason Finale
1 year agoHouston Texans running back Mike Boone had a game-high 51 rush yards on seven carries and had an electric 11-yard touchdown run in Sunday's 17-13 preseason win over the New Orleans Saints. He also caught four passes for 26 yards. The Texans signed running back Mike Boone to a two-year deal this offseason. With Dameon Pierce and Devin Singletary locked into the top two running back slots on offense, Boone was likely signed to be RB3. The Texans also brought in competition in Larry Rountree III and Dare Ogunbowale to compete with Boone for the RB3 job. But after Sunday's preseason victory, it appears that role should go to Boone. The veteran had a solid game for Houston and should have a safe roster spot now, especially given his importance on special teams. He spent the first three years of his career with the Minnesota Vikings before signing a two-deal with the Denver Broncos in 2021. Despite a new team, Boone probably shouldn't be drafted in most leagues this season.
