Miguel Vargas To Play Some Defense Thursday
2 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers infielder Miguel Vargas (finger) will play defense in camp on Thursday, but he's not cleared yet to hit. Vargas is still recovering after suffering a hairline fracture to his right pinkie last week while fielding ground balls. When healthy, the 23-year-old should see most of his playing time for the Dodgers at second base, with Gavin Lux at shortstop and Max Muncy mostly manning the hot corner. He did nothing but hit in the minor leagues last year and also has a little bit of speed that will be useful over a full MLB season if he's playing regularly. Vargas will likely be hitting near the bottom of LA's stacked lineup if he's playing, but even then, the lineup in which he resides will make him more attractive.
