Miguel Castro Notches Second Hold On Sunday
4 years agoNew York Mets right-handed relief pitcher Miguel Castro picked up his second hold of the season on Sunday in the Mets' 4-2 win over the Diamondbacks. He pitched a scoreless sixth inning, working around a walk, allowing no hits to help preserve the lead and eventual win. In 13 innings pitched in 2021, Castro has a 2.77 ERA, a 1.31 WHIP, 20 strikeouts, and six walks. He has also posted an elite 35.1% strikeout rate so far in 2021. Given the fact that Mets' manager Luis Rojas has been deploying Castro in higher leverage roles in recent games, Castro should be on the radar of fantasy managers in leagues that reward holds. He can provide high strikeout totals, to go with solid hold totals pitching in front of Trevor May, Edwin Diaz, and (eventually) Seth Lugo (elbow).
