Miguel Cabrera To Be Activated From IL This Weekend
4 years agoDetroit Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera (biceps) is expected to be activated from the injured list sometime this weekend, according to Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press. Manager AJ Hinch said he was happy with the results from Cabrera's batting practice session on Friday, and expects him to return either Saturday or Sunday. Cabrera has been on the injured list with a biceps strain since April 10, having slashed .125/.222/.292 with a home run and three RBI in seven games.

Miguel Cabrera Leaves Thursday's Game Early
1 year agoDetroit Tigers designated hitter Miguel Cabrera was removed from Thursday's game in the sixth inning after fouling a pitch off his lower leg. There are no signs of a fracture and Cabrera will be re-evaluated after the game. Miggy is in the midst of his final season of baseball, one which will hopefully not end with this injury. It is very likely that even if Cabrera is injured, he will take an at-bat in the team's final game to get one last hoorah. Although he's slowed down the past few years, Miggy has had an inner-circle hall-of-fame caliber career.

Miguel Cabrera Moved Up To Cleanup Spot Tuesday
2 years agoDetroit Tigers designated hitter Miguel Cabrera is being moved up to the cleanup spot for Tuesday's contest against the Minnesota Twins and right-hander Sonny Gray. It's the future Hall of Famer's first assignment in the cleanup spot in the 2023 season as he has largely hit seventh for A.J. Hinch this season. Cabrera's final tour in the big leagues appeared disastrous out of the gate but the 40-year-old heated up along with the weather this season, hitting .291 with a 10.6% BB%, a .768 OPS, and .340 wOBA since June 1, good for a 118 wRC+ that sits 18% above the league average. Cabrera is 8-for-23 (.348) with two homers and five walks versus five strikeouts in 28 career plate appearances against Gray.

Miguel Cabrera Getting A Breather Against Royals
2 years agoDetroit Tigers designated hitter Miguel Cabrera will get the day off on Wednesday against the Kansas City Royals in the series finale. The future Hall of Famer started seven of the team's last eight games and will take a regular day of rest in what is his final MLB season. The 40-year-old isn't of any use to fantasy managers in the final season of his storied career, as he's hitting just .233 (30-for-129) with one home run, nine doubles, 10 RBI and eight runs scored in 40 games played. The 12-time All-Star and two-time MVP has started to heat up in the month of June, though, going 12-for-37 (.324) with a homer, five doubles, three RBI and four runs in 12 games. Kerry Carpenter is serving as Detroit's DH on Wednesday and is batting third against Royals right-hander Brady Singer.

Miguel Cabrera Out With Illness Wednesday
2 years agoDetroit Tigers designated hitter/first baseman Miguel Cabrera (illness) is out of the starting lineup for Game 1 of a doubleheader against the New York Mets on Wednesday due to an illness. It remains to be seen if the 40-year-old veteran slugger will return for the second game of the twin bill, but it's probably unlikely. With Miggy out in Game 1, Eric Haase is serving as the team's designated hitter and will bat cleanup against Mets left-hander Joey Lucchesi. Cabrera continues to struggle offensively in his final MLB season in 2023, as he's currently hitting only .189 (10-for-53) with three doubles, no home runs, three RBI and no runs scored in 15 games played.
