Miguel Cabrera Resumes Swinging
6 years agoDetroit Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera (biceps) has resumed swinging a bat, according to general manager Al Avila. Similar to Albert Pujols, the tread on Cabrera's tires is running thin as he enters his age-36 season. Miggy was limited to just 134 at-bats in 2018 because of his injury, but he did hit .299/.395/.448 in a small sample size with just three homers. Cabrera is a big injury risk moving forward, so hopefully the Tigers move him more to a full-time designated hitter role. He can still hit, but the days of him being a fantasy MVP are long gone. He'll be a decent corner infielder in deeper mixed leagues if he can stay healthy, but he's unlikely to post gaudy power numbers at this point.
