Miguel Cabrera Moved Up To Cleanup Spot Tuesday
1 year agoDetroit Tigers designated hitter Miguel Cabrera is being moved up to the cleanup spot for Tuesday's contest against the Minnesota Twins and right-hander Sonny Gray. It's the future Hall of Famer's first assignment in the cleanup spot in the 2023 season as he has largely hit seventh for A.J. Hinch this season. Cabrera's final tour in the big leagues appeared disastrous out of the gate but the 40-year-old heated up along with the weather this season, hitting .291 with a 10.6% BB%, a .768 OPS, and .340 wOBA since June 1, good for a 118 wRC+ that sits 18% above the league average. Cabrera is 8-for-23 (.348) with two homers and five walks versus five strikeouts in 28 career plate appearances against Gray.
