Miguel Andujar's Defensive Blunders Cost Yankees On Sunday
6 years agoNew York Yankees third baseman Miguel Andujar has been one of the bright spots of an ailing offense as of late, but his defensive mistakes on Sunday helped the Boston Red Sox to a series sweep. All told, Andujar made two errors on Sunday but one of those was gut-wrenchingly awful. In the bottom of the ninth, with closer Aroldis Chapman struggling on the mound, Andujar had a chance to end the threat and secure a Yankees' 4-3 win. Instead, he made a terrible throw to first base on a Xander Bogaerts' grounder that allowed Jackie Bradley Jr. to score and tie the game. The Yankees went on to lose in the 10th inning. Andujar's errors were almost mirror images of each other, except that the second one proved game-defining. He's still hitting .291, but fantasy owners have to hope these defensive issues are just blips on the radar and not a sign of things to come.
