Miguel Andujar To Take On Versatile Role In Minors
4 years agoNew York Yankees infielder/outfielder Miguel Andujar is playing multiple positions for the Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, including left field. Andujar saw some reps at first base and has started each of the last two games for the RailRiders in left, as the Yankees are clearly trying to think of as many ways as possible to get his bat into the lineup. Manager Aaron Boone said that the team nearly called him up from the minors after Rougned Odor's placement on the injured list- though they felt it would be better for him to see regular at-bats at Triple-A rather than an inconsistent role in the big leagues. Still, Andujar bears watching, as the 26-year-old proved he could hit big-league pitching back in 2018. Perhaps Andujar will get a shot with the Yankees if Gio Urshela (knee) requires a stint on the injured list.
