Miguel Andujar Ready For Opportunity
7 years agoMiguel Andujar, third base prospect of the New York Yankees, seems poised for the opportunity he’s receiving this Spring Training. With the departures of Chase Headley and Todd Frazier, the club has an opening at third base this season and is looking within the organization for a replacement. The favorite prior to Spring Training was Andujar, and the youngster’s comments indicate he’s ready. When asked if he’s ready to be the Opening Day starter, the Dominican simply stated “of course” -- the kind of confidence most would want from a rookie. Andujar faces competition from Tyler Wade, Danny Espinosa, Jace Peterson and Ronald Torreyes for the opening at the hot corner. Last season in five games with the Bronx Bombers, Andujar hit .571 with a pair of doubles, four RBI, a walk and a stolen base.
