Miguel Andujar Optioned To Minors
7 years agoExciting third base prospect Miguel Andujar was optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre by the New York Yankees on Sunday. The 23-year-old had a monster start to spring training this year, posting a .429 average with four home runs through the first five games. Since then, however, he cooled down, hitting .219 in 10 games this month. While the arrival of infielder Brandon Drury hurt Andujar’s chances of surprisingly winning the starting third base job, the Dominican native remained in play for the position. It was ultimately his waning appearances at the plate that did him in. Should he get hot in Triple-A again, however, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him with the major league club this season.
