Michael Wacha Officially Goes On The Disabled List
6 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Michael Wacha (oblique) has officially been placed on the 10-day disabled list Thursday. The right-hander suffered the injury on June 20 against the Philadelphia Phillies. He reportedly couldn’t even breathe without feeling pain. The injury comes as a huge blow for the Cardinals and Wacha’s fantasy owners alike. Before the injury, he had pitched to an 8-2 record to go along with a 3.20 ERA and 1.23 WHIP. The Cardinals recalled right-hander John Gant from Triple-A Memphis to take Wacha’s place on the roster, but it will be hard to replace the 26-year-old’s production in fantasy lineups since he could conceivably miss over a month of playing time. Gant is an option to take the rotation spot, but so are Daniel Poncedeleon and Dakota Hudson.
