3 years agoTampa Bay Rays pitcher Michael Wacha allowed five runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out five across three innings during Wednesday's 15-6 loss to the Nationals. He did not factor into the decision. Despite coming off a solid start in his previous appearance, the Rays opted to use Wacha out of the bullpen for Wednesday's game. The 30-year-old was roughed up by the Nationals and served up three homers in Wednesday's no-decision. He owns a 5.26 ERA, 1.40 WHIP, and a 44:16 K: BB across 51 1/3 innings in 2021. It's unclear if Wacha will be used as a starter or reliever, but the Rays are expected to use him in some form in next week's series against Cleveland.
