Michael Wacha Lit Up In Wednesday’s Relief Appearance
3 years agoTampa Bay Rays pitcher Michael Wacha allowed five runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out five across three innings during Wednesday's 15-6 loss to the Nationals. He did not factor into the decision. Despite coming off a solid start in his previous appearance, the Rays opted to use Wacha out of the bullpen for Wednesday's game. The 30-year-old was roughed up by the Nationals and served up three homers in Wednesday's no-decision. He owns a 5.26 ERA, 1.40 WHIP, and a 44:16 K: BB across 51 1/3 innings in 2021. It's unclear if Wacha will be used as a starter or reliever, but the Rays are expected to use him in some form in next week's series against Cleveland. Fantasy managers can leave Wacha on the waiver wire for now.
