Michael Pineda Placed On 10-Day Injured List
Michael Pineda (elbow) was placed on the 10-day injured list with right elbow inflammation Monday. Pineda experienced forearm tightness after his June 1 start against the Baltimore Orioles, though it caused him to miss just one start. The veteran righty was again forced to exit his outing early on Sunday, though he'll be sidelined for at least one start this time and likely more than that. Randy Dobnak should be headed for a couple of more spot starts with Pineda on the shelf, though Dobnak himself is also a bit banged up.

Michael Pineda Lands On Injured List With Tricep Tightness
Michael Pineda (tricep) on the 15-day injured list due to tricep tightness on Sunday. The injury flared up during his start against his former team, the Minnesota Twins, on Saturday and it caused him to exit after three innings. The Tigers called up right-handed reliever Angel De Jesus to fill Pineda's roster spot. Pineda earned the loss on Saturday, dropping his record to 2-6 on the year. He has a 5.27 ERA and a 1.36 WHIP. The Tigers' rotation has been obliterated by injuries this year and it's unclear who will take Pineda's spot in the rotation at this point. His next turn in the rotation was scheduled for this coming Thursday against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Michael Pineda Leaves Saturday's Start With Triceps Tightness
Michael Pineda (triceps) left Saturday's game against the Minnesota Twins with right triceps tightness during the fourth inning. He allowed two runs on four hits while striking out three over three innings before leaving. The 33-year-old was removed in the third inning after aggravating a triceps injury. He owns a 5.27 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 23 strikeouts over 42 2/3 innings in 2022. Pineda is considered day-to-day, and it's unclear if he will make his net start Thursday against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Michael Pineda Activated Ahead Of Friday's Start
Michael Pineda (finger) from the 15-day injured list. He will be the team's starting pitcher for Friday's series opener against the Kansas City Royals. The 33-year-old missed about a month and a half after fracturing his right middle finger. He made just five starts before the injury and went 1-2 with a 3.22 ERA and a 1.07 WHIP. He could continue to maintain a solid ERA and WHIP throughout the year, but he offers little strikeout upside (just 12 strikeouts over 22.1 innings) and his win potential is low on the Tigers. To clear space for Pineda, the Tigers sent fellow right-hander Alex Faedo to Triple-A.

Michael Pineda Expected To Return Friday
Michael Pineda (finger) is expected to be activated from the 15-day injured list to start Friday against the Kansas City Royals. He allowed two runs over 3 2/3 innings during his last rehab start with Triple-A Toledo. Pineda has been sidelined since suffering a fractured right middle finger in mid-May. The 33-year-old was off to an excellent start for Detroit before the injury, posting a 3.22 ERA and 1.07 WHIP with a 12:4 K: BB in five starts covering 22 1/3 innings pitched. Pineda is an option in deep-league formats when he returns, but fantasy managers might want to wait for a start or two before using him as a streamer.
