Michael Pineda Picks Up Fourth Victory
3 years agoMinnesota Twins starting pitcher Michael Pineda notched his fourth victory of the season in Wednesday's defeat of the White Sox. Pineda pitched five innings, allowing one run on four hits while issuing just one walk. The veteran right-hander struck out four and had his slider in peak form, generating nine of his 10 whiffs on the pitch. It's the first time that Pineda has allowed one run since May, lowering his ERA to 3.93 with the effort. Pineda could fare better in the wins department if moved to a contending team at the trade deadline, though with just a 21 percent strikeout rate and some poor batted ball metrics, his ERA may rise in the coming starts.
