4 years agoMinnesota Twins starting pitcher Michael Pineda (thigh) has been placed on the 10-day injured list. Pineda is recovering from a procedure on his thigh, which removed an abscess. There was some speculation earlier that the veteran right-hander would possibly require a brief stint on the injured list- which ultimately came to fruition, though manager Rocco Baldelli said that he needs "a couple of extra days"- so it doesn't sound like it will be a long time on the sidelines for Pineda. Minnesota selected the contract of right-handed pitcher Luke Farrell. Lewis Thorpe and Bailey Ober, who made a spot start Tuesday, are candidates to handle Pineda's turn in the rotation.--Tim Capurso
