Michael Pineda Expected To Hit The Injured List With Oblique Injury
3 years agoMinnesota Twins starting pitcher Michael Pineda (oblique) is expected to require a stint on the injured list, per Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic. Pineda was forced to exit Friday's start after just 2 2/3 innings with left side tightness- though manager Rocco Baldelli provided an update after the contest, saying the right-hander is dealing with a strained oblique. It's unclear how long Pineda will be sidelined. Left-hander Lewis Thorpe made a start Friday for the club's Triple-A affiliate and would seem to be the prime candidate to replace Pineda in the rotation, given he's on a similar pitching schedule. Thorpe has pitched to a 3.86 ERA and 1.21 WHIP in 14 innings.
