Michael McDowell Must Overcome Poor Starting Spot Once Again at COTA
8 months agoMichael McDowell qualified 27th for this weekend's EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix at Circuit of the Americas, and while that is definitely not an advantage at a road course track, it's a position that McDowell is quite used to. In three career starts at COTA, the Front Row Motorsports driver has started 20th, 27th, and 23rd but ended up with finishes of 12th, 13th, and seventh (respectively) in those races. The 27th-place starting spot is actually good news for DFS players this weekend, as McDowell has a lot of place differential upside considering his prowess on road courses. At a modest $8,000 on DraftKings, Michael McDowell has the potential to be one of the best value drivers on the slate when it's all said and done on Sunday. He has an average finish of 13.9 on road courses over the last two seasons, which is ninth-best in the Cup Series.
