Michael Lorenzen Earns Four-Inning Save Friday
6 years agoCincinnati Reds relief pitcher Michael Lorenzen earned his first save of the season in a 7-2 win over the Padres. Lorenzen came in to pitch in the sixth inning with a five-run lead and pitched the remaining four innings of the game, giving up two runs on two hits and a walk with four strikeouts. This was not a typical save situation and Lorenzen will not see save opportunities with closer Raisel Iglesias firmly in place in the Reds bullpen. Lorenzen has pitched well since returning from the DL with a shoulder injury, posting a 2.00 ERA with six strikeouts and three walks in nine innings pitched. However, he won't contribute any meaningful value to fantasy teams given his current role in the bullpen.
