Michael King Expects To Be Ready For Opening Day
2 years agoNew York Yankees relief pitcher Michael King (elbow) said that he expects to be ready for Opening Day after missing the final two-plus months of last season with a fractured right elbow. If healthy in 2023, King will likely be used as a multi-inning stopper in the Yankees' bullpen in the later innings in front of closer Clay Holmes. Before he was hurt in 2022, King was excellent for the Yanks, going 6-3 with a 2.29 ERA (2.23 FIP), 1.00 WHIP, his first career save, 66 strikeouts and 16 walks in 51 relief innings over a career-high 34 relief appearances. The 27-year-old right-hander may be eased in initially, but he should carry plenty of value in fantasy leagues that reward holds.
