Michael Fulmer Records Cubs First Save Of Season
2 years agoThe Chicago Cubs finally had a chance for a save Friday against the Texas Rangers, and it was right-hander Michael Fulmer who took the hill to close the 2-0 victory. He went two innings, allowing one hit and striking out four. Fulmer is running a 0.00 ERA with seven punchouts and one walk across 3.1 innings thus far. The Cubs signed the 30-year-old over the offseason, planning to have him at least contribute to the closing role after posting a 3.39 ERA, 1.37 WHIP, and 22.1% strikeout rate with three saves and 25 holds in 2022. It's a good sign for fantasy managers, and though he still may have to split save opportunities with Brad Boxberger, it looks like Fulmer will get the bulk of them.
