Michael Fulmer Off To A Good Start
2 years agoChicago Cubs right-hander Michael Fulmer hasn't pitched much yet in 2023 but has been solid when on the mound. Over 1.1 innings, the 30-year-old has three strikeouts and no runs allowed. Fulmer was great a season ago, pitching to a 3.39 ERA and a 22.1% strikeout rate over 63.2 innings. He hasn't had a save opportunity to date, but no neither has any arm on the Cubs pitching staff. Coming into the season, Fulmer was thought of as one of the leading candidates for the closer job, but obviously, there's been no clarity on that situation yet. The former New York Mets draft pick might split chances with Brad Boxberger, which would still allow the former to compile north of 10 saves throughout the season while earning his fair share of holds. Fulmer has relevance in every format but isn't going to be a top reliever in any league.
