Michael Fulmer Earns His Fifth Save Despite Shaky Inning
3 years agoDetroit Tigers relief pitcher Michael Fulmer had a tough time closing out Wednesday's win against the Kansas City Royals. He entered the game in the ninth inning while the Tigers had a 6-3 lead and went on to give up three hits, no walks and two earned runs while striking out one. Despite his struggles, he managed to earn his fifth save of the year as the team went on to win 6-5. Gregory Soto received the save for the team on Tuesday and Jose Cisnero had recorded the team's previous two saves before that. Fulmer was on the injured list during Cisnero's saves and Cisnero pitched the eighth inning on Wednesday. Fulmer looks to have regained the top closer spot for the team, but another shaky outing like this could certainly change that.
