Michael Fulmer Earns His 14th Save In The Finale
3 years agoDetroit Tigers relief pitcher Michael Fulmer put a cap on the team's season on Sunday. He pitched a scoreless ninth inning in the team's 5-2 win over the Chicago White Sox, earning his 14th save of the year. 2021 was a fantastic bounce-back season for Fulmer. He didn't pitch in 2019 after undergoing Tommy John surgery, then struggled to an 8.78 ERA over 10 starts in 2020. This year, over 52 appearances, he tallied 14 saves and nine holds while maintaining a 2.97 ERA, a 1.28 WHIP and a 3.7 K/BB rate. It will be interesting to see what the organization plans for the rejuvenated 28-year-old next year.
