Michael Fulmer Ditching Knee Brace
6 years agoDetroit Tigers starting pitcher Michael Fulmer, who has taken a step back from throwing in games, is shedding his knee brace while he throws on the side because it has been too restrictive. Instead, he threw on Friday with only a compression sleeve on his knee. “It felt great,” Fulmer said. “I felt a lot more range of motion, being able to kind of sink down with my legs and actually push off going toward home plate.” The right-hander is focusing on getting the leg push back in his delivery before he worries about velocity again. Fulmer has no timetable for when he'll pitch in a game again, and he's willing to push his regular season debut back if need be. Fulmer had offseason knee surgery and doesn't seem to be quite right yet. There's no need to take a chance on him in mixed leagues until he proves he's back to full health.
