Michael Fulmer Agrees With Cubs Friday
2 years agoFree-agent right-hander Michael Fulmer agreed to an undisclosed deal with the Chicago Cubs on Friday, according to sources. Fulmer began his major-league career as a starter for the Detroit Tigers, and he won the American League Rookie of the Year in 2016 before being named to the All-Star team in 2017. But now he's a full-time reliever and posted a 3.39 ERA (3.57 FIP), 1.37 WHIP, three saves and 61 strikeouts in 63 2/3 relief innings in 2022 with the Tigers and Minnesota Twins. The 29-year-old veteran has never been a big strikeout guy in his career (7.4 K/9 in 617 innings), so fantasy managers shouldn't be expecting dominance in the strikeout department. However, Fulmer could be in the mix for some saves in Chicago's bullpen in what's expected to be a committee consisting of Brandon Hughes, Brad Boxberger and Adbert Alzolay.
