Michael Conforto Hits His First Homer On Saturday
4 years agoNew York Mets outfielder Michael Conforto hit his first home run of the 2021 season in the Mets' 7-1 loss to the Nationals on Saturday. Conforto's solo shot accounted for the Mets' lone run and was Conforto's only hit on the afternoon. Conforto finished the game going 1-for-4 with the HR and a strikeout. Although Conforto appears to be coming out of his early-season struggles at the plate, now hitting .296 over his past eight games, he continues to struggle in the field. He committed a critical two-base error on Saturday in the first inning and made some other suspect plays. While the Mets may give Conforto a day off on Sunday to clear his head in light of the defensive miscues on Saturday, fantasy managers rostering Conforto should remain patient with him. He seems to be finally waking up at the plate and is coming off an excellent 2020 campaign largely supported by underlying metrics.
