Miami Designates Brett de Geus For Assignment
1 day agoThe Miami Marlins have designated right-handed pitcher Brett de Geus for assignment. In a corresponding move, the Marlins promoted right-handed pitcher Xzavion Curry from Triple-A Jacksonville. de Geus tossed one inning at Triple-A and allowed five hits and one earned run. He will now pass through waivers and will lose his spot on the 40-man roster. Last season, de Geus logged 11 1/3 innings in the majors and posted a 7.15 ERA with a 1.59 WHIP. He tallied just seven strikeouts. During the 2023 campaign, the 27-year-old tossed a career-high 50 innings but posted a similar 7.56 ERA and a 1.74 WHIP. Fantasy managers should not expect the right-hander to draw much interest in waivers, given his previous performances in the majors.
