Mets Waiting On Michael Conforto Extension Talks
4 years agoThe New York Mets are reportedly waiting for resolution on extension talks with shortstop Francisco Lindor before moving forward on their extension talks with outfielder Michael Conforto. Conforto is due to become a free agent after the 2021 season. Contrary to earlier reports, Conforto has stated that he will negotiate a contract extension after Opening Day. As a result, this will enable the Mets to come to a resolution on the pending talks with Lindor before engaging in earnest discussions with Conforto. It is a certainty, though, that the Mets need to get their home-grown slugger locked into a multi-year contract before the end of the 2021 campaign. If they do not, the Mets run the risk of losing Conforto to free agency. With a great surrounding cast, Conforto can potentially provide fantasy managers with 30 home runs, and 90-100 RBI, to go with a .270 batting average in 2021.
