Mets To Discuss Edwin Diaz's Role After Another Rough Outing
4 years agoNew York Mets manager Luis Rojas stated after Thursday's 4-2 loss to the Red Sox that they'll discuss Edwin Diaz's role in the team's bullpen with the team's brass. He was put into the ninth inning with the team down 3-2 and went on to issue two walks, a single, and a hit-by-pitch. Luckily, Paul Sewald entered after and stranded all three runners leaving Diaz with one earned run. That's back-to-back outings where the righty has given up a run after a miserable 2019 campaign that saw him blow seven saves to a 5.59 ERA. Diaz likely won't close any games soon for the Mets and may be limited to low-leverage situations until he can regain his confidence. Seth Lugo, Dellin Betances and Jeurys Familia remain the bullpen arms to own.
