3 years agoJon Heyman of the MLB Network reports that the New York Mets and Chicago Cubs are discussing a trade involving star third baseman Kris Bryant and pitcher Kyle Davies. The 29-year-old has been rumored to be traded to the Giants, and now the Mets have thrown their name into the Bryant sweepstakes. The Cubs recently traded first baseman Anthony Rizzo to the New York Yankees, and Bryant could be next. He's bounced back in 2021 after a disappointing 2020 season, slashing .267/.358/.503 with 18 home runs, 51 RBI, and four stolen bases over 93 games. Davies would give the Mets much-needed depth in the starting rotation and has been solid in 2021, owning a 4.39 ERA, 1.51 WHIP, and 78 strikeouts across 108 2/3 innings.
